John became a Christian in his twenties and since then has been an active part of Highworth Community Church, Vale Community Church and then Cana Fellowship (which became Vale Elim Church).

Vale Elim Church has been a big part of life for the last twenty years or so and John very much feel feels that God has sent him to work in the Vale of White Horse.

John served as an elder for a number of years and then led Vale Elim (with a lot of help from his wife Julie and other church members) from 2016 to 2024. During that time he also chaired the Wantage and Grove Church Partnership.

He is currently Church Finance Officer and Safeguarding Lead and works with Julie leading worship.

John has been married to Julie since 1979, and they have five children and eight grandchildren.

Outside church life he enjoys family life, building and flying radio control aircraft, helping Julie to record her songs and riding his motorbike.
