A watering place in the desert

Vale Elim Church is part of the wider family of Elim Pentecostal Churches; a growing movement of over 550 congregations across the UK and Ireland.

Founded in 1915 by Welsh evangelist Rev. George Jeffreys in Monaghan, Ireland, Elim was birthed in a powerful move of God marked by passionate preaching, church planting, miraculous healings, and many lives transformed by Jesus Christ.

The name Elim is found in the Old Testament (Exodus 15:27 and Numbers 33:9) — a place of twelve springs and seventy palm trees where God’s people found rest and refreshment in the wilderness following their crossing of the Red Sea.

‘A Watering Place in the Desert’

Reminiscent of that historical event, the vision of Vale Elim Church is to be ‘A Watering Place in the Desert’, based on Psalm 107:35-38 — a place of spiritual refreshment, restoration, and renewal.

As an oasis of life, it aims to provide a safe space where Christians and non- Christians, can come and meet with Jesus Christ, the giver of life (John 10:10).

At the heart of Vale Elim Church is vibrant worship, discipleship, and a deep dependence on the Holy Spirit with the Word of God. We seek the healing and wholeness of spirit, soul, and body, following the mission of Jesus described in Luke 4:18–19.

Our desire is to be a Spirit-filled community where lives are restored, faith is strengthened, and hope flows freely — a true watering place in the desert.

If you are seeking a church home in the Vale of White Horse, or simply exploring faith, we warmly invite you to join us.
